Weakley’s Field is the culmination of Dale Weakley’s dream from his youth. In 1975, at age 28, he purchased the original 17-acre tract of land. The following year, he purchased another 16 acres to start construction of his runway, all before his home was begun and prior to the purchase of his first airplane. As years went by, he sculptured out a 2,100 ft. runway. Several airplanes later, and after his home, hanger, barns, and garage were completed, he sectioned off parts of his original 33 acres, incorporated the 3.75-acre runway tract, and sold lots to three other pilots, thus forming the original Weakley’s Field Airpark. In 2001, word came that the 54-acre farm to the South of Weakley’s Field may be coming up for sale. Not wanting to see it become a subdivision that might jeopardize the operation of Weakley’s Field, this acreage was purchased in 2003. This new land acquisition was surveyed and divided into nine 5 to 6 acre tracts. The soil scientist’s reviews were good and city water was made available. At this time, construction began on the extension of Weakley’s Field to its present length of approximately 3,400 ft.

To date, five of these lots have been sold and construction of a new home has been completed, with another to follow soon. There are still four prime lots remaining that adjoin the South end of the runway. These are currently being offered for sale to fellow pilots with an interest in grassroots aviation that would enjoy walking out to their hanger, hopping in the plane and going flying.

With completion of the sale of these four tracts, we will have a total of 13 aviation friendly neighbors. Due to it’s close proximity to four cities, Nashville, Clarksville, Springfield, and Ashland City, and being located less than 5 miles from I-24, it is in a very desirable location for family or individual living.
